21 November 2011 - License Dashboard Ltd, the leading UK-based developer of Software Asset Management and License Management solutions for large and growing enterprises, today announced the launch of License Manager 5, the latest generation of its market-leading software asset management product.
Together with new enhancements to Discovery, License Dashboard's license management software, the new products give organisations an unparalleled view of the software installed on their network, how it is being used and whether there are sufficient licenses in place to cover the detected use.
License Manager 5 marks a major milestone in the evolution of software asset management, with the introduction of software metering, designed to show managers not only which applications are installed across the network, but whether they are being actively used. By highlighting applications which are installed, but not used regularly, License Manager 5 enables organisations to re-harvest software licenses or improve their compliance position by removing unused software from the network.
License Manager 5 also features a revised administrative interface together with an all-new web-based reporting interface. The new graphical reports make it easy for authorised managers across the enterprise to monitor a wealth of important license management metrics at-a-glance, with a full drill-down capability into detailed asset and license information.
License Dashboard services director, Sean Robinson, commented: “With software now accounting for around 35 per cent of all IT spend, it has never been more important to ensure that all deployed applications are both accurately licensed and in regular use. The new reports, combined with the metering capability in License Manager, bring greater transparency to the license management function and make it easy for IT staff and senior executives to make informed decisions about current and future licensing requirements.”
In line with the enhancements developed for License Manager 5, the License Dashboard Discovery solution can now be quickly configured to monitor the usage of selected applications on desktops and servers. For organisations that already have an audit solution deployed which does not support software metering, License Dashboard can now supply a lightweight client agent to monitor software usage, complimenting the audit information already available in the third-party Discovery tool.
License Dashboard License Manager 5 will be available from 5th December 2011 and existing customers with a current support and maintenance contract will be able to upgrade at no additional cost.
